After many years of working as a lead designer for Ximedica (Providence) and Radius (Boston), Dan has recently launched Nelsen PD, primarily working alone but also pulling on a deep network of contacts in the northeast  and beyond to help out when needed.

What really differentiates Nelsen PD’s approach is the ability and insistence of the simultaneous integration of engineering and manufacturing requirements (Design for Manufacture, or DFM) as a critical element of the Industrial Design process. In other words, Industrial Design concerning not just how a product looks, feels, addresses human factors and hits marketing goals…. But also, How do you manufacture it?  Where is it made?  How is it assembled?  What are the costs?  How does it scale? What is the environmental impact?
